Cold Plunges in Midlife: Good or Bad?

I’ve been seeing a lot of conflicting advice floating around social media this week. A source of immunity and longevity, or a stressor for midlife women that’s to be avoided?

The truth to just about any health protocol is: It depends. That’s not an answer most of us want to hear, we want clear directives and concise theories we can easily follow. And you can find a lot of experts with binary opinions online.

The truth lay in trying it out for yourself. If you feel sluggish and your immunity is low, a cold plunge can help bring energy and vitality. If you’ve run your cortisol too high for too long, and you are on the threshold of burnout, ice baths may do more harm than good. They may feel good at first, but if you overdo it they can tip into the more harmful than good bucket. You may find they work for you but only at certain temperatures.

Finding the things that support your body requires attention to the subtle details. Don’t listen to whatever everyone else is saying-  listen to your own body.
